"De Gylne Nøgler Dansk Hotel Portier Forening"

De Gyldne Nøgler Dansk Hotel Portier Forening was established on 23^rd January 1937 at Grand Cafè at Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. 6 Founding Fathers were President R. Weber – Tourist Hotellet, Secretary Chr. Liisberg Larsen- Hotel Phønix, Treasurer Frederik Andersen-Hotel Hafnia, Board Members John Meyer-Hotel Cosmopolite, Petersen-Hotel Dagmar and O. Kissby-Grand Hotel.

Simultaneously, a magazine was initiated and published, giving news from Sweden, Norway and Finland. The Scandinavian countries functioned as a Zone long before, the very idea of establishment of zones was conceived. The magazine was stopped in 1993.

In the beginning there were two branches of the association; one in Copenhagen and the other in the province. There were two Presidents respectively but only one President functioned as country President. The aim from the very beginning was to cooperate and strengthen relationships within the Scandinavian countries but most of the members were not inclined to develop relationships with rest of Europe. Luckily this scenario changed when legendary Parisian Concierge Ferdinand Gillet invited 7 countries including Denmark to Cannes on 25^th April 1952 for the first congress. Denmark became one of the Founding Fathers of Les Clefs d'Or.

Denmark organized Les Clefs d `Ors 12<sup>th</sup> congress in 1962 when Ferdinad Gillet was International President, once again Denmark was host of 25<sup>th</sup> congress in 1977 when Jean Gillet was International President. It is a matter of great honour and exquisite pleasure Denmark has been given the privilege to organize 55<sup>th</sup> International U.I.C.H. Congress in Wonderful Copenhagen from 11 th to 16 th January 2008 when once again a French concierge, Roger Bastoni is International President. It seems the connection and bonds between France and Denmark based on mutual interests and respect, are really strong. Denmark has organized 6 BOD meetings, had been an active player in different committees, contributing to the International Review. Denmark had always strived to maintain the flame of Les Clefs d`Or burning even against many difficult odds.

Denmark is very proud to have built bridges between generations which is being reflected in the present Board of Directors enthusiasm, active participation and the numbers of activities taking place in the realm of les Clefs d `Or Denmark. Arshad Khokhar is presently President of Denmark
