Dear friends,
It is already a month since we parted after a wonderful congress in Vienna. I am sure we have all in turn said a big" thank you" to Erwin and all his Viennese colleagues fot giving us such a wonderful time. The week after Vienna, 30th of March to be precise, France held his National General Assembly in which i resigned as French National President. (It was also the night of our annual Gala in the very prestigious salon de l'Opera in the hotel Intercontinental "le Grand"). The French current affairs will be run by the 2 Vice Presidents (Roderick Levejac and Lionel Lorans) until French national election which should be held early september.
I have just returned from Montreal where the poeple of Quebec organised the 6TH Canadian "Clefs d'Or" congress. More than 120 participated and, together with Anne, I enjoyed every minute of a wonderful convention. The meetings and the educational were of a very high standard. Congratulations of course to the organising team but congratulations too to Geoffrey Argue President of the Canadian section, to his board and to the area Directors for their excellent presentations. Snow and cold outside but so much warmth inside ...
I arrived in Cannes at 9.00am on Tuesday and came straight to work as it is television Festival week.
Enough about me...
I hope this mail finds you all well and looking forward to 2 years of hard work in order to reach our main goals. Since coming back from Vienna, I have :
- Been in touch with Apicius for the updating of our website. I have sent them most of our informations and within the next fortnight, we SHOULD finally look better !!! May 15 should be the day ... A reminder to you all that we are looking for an "expert" to replace Mr. Caser previously our link with Apicius.
- I have asked Roderick Levejac to "have a look in a new field" of website which explains why he has asked some of you informations.
- I have asked the Zone directors to gather from National Presidents information for the next International review. This information should get to Virginia Casale by May 25 at the latest. This would give us the possibility to have the review printed and sent to you by mid June.
- I have checked with Esther Baldocchi an estimation of how many Presidents had sent answers to the letter she sent to you all . We gave each other a dead line for April 15 and so far, I am afraid, only to few of you have answered. Partial answer is not good enough. The office, your international office, should detain individual information about each nation of our association. I, together with Mr. Robert Watson, had recently asked different persons not to give use of the International logo without the "International Board" consent.
- We are working hard at finding a destination for either a Board of Directors or executive meeting for September.
- The new statute together with the new Executive Committee signed list will soon be deposited with the french "Prefecture".
- Everyone of you will soon be involved with providing an updates list of all your members with their particulars in order to put them first on the website and then, as agreed in Vienna, be printed in our book of members for the 2007/2009 version. In fact you MUST at your earliest convenience sent the completed UPDATED listing (as you did in the previous issues of our book of members). Photograph should be in a "jpg" format please ...
- Contact will be or has already been made with Mr. John Sun Dong regarding the presentation of what could be our International flag. John, if no one has done so, and as per our conversation in Vienna, please give us some suggestions.
- We are waiting from American Express the final nomination of the person (replacing Mr. Guido Scarfo) as our correspondant.
- I shall get in touch with Mr Giacomello and "Bucherer" to organise an easy way to have "Clefs d'Or" keys always available at the Paris office.
- Obviously we will start getting even nearer to Mr. Arshad Khokhar to help him with the organisation of our next International Congress to be held in.....9 months time. I would dearly love to see each participating country bring one of their young members to Copenhagen.
I simply request from all of you your efforts to make it in such a way that we do not have to remind you several times for all the necessary information .The "KEY" to our success depends on that. I will get in touch with you all regularly with more updated news and more missions.
I wish you all the very best. Do not forget that April 25 is our "55th ANNIVERSARY". Celebrations are in order ...
